Home Builders Institute (HBI) Training Programs

Provides an overview of HBI's hands-on training to help people begin or advance their careers in the building industry. Training programs for at-risk youth, adult offenders and people with disabilities are offered through HBI's programs in Job Corps and Workforce Training and Employment Departments. Project Hope offers trades training and job placement services for people with disabilities.  A factsheet about Project Hope can be downloaded in PDF format.

South Carolina Vocational Rehabilitation Department's Work Training Centers

Enables eligible South Carolinians with disabilities to prepare for, achieve and maintain competitive employment. Includes a list of 18 area offices and 24 work training centers throughout South Carolina.

South Carolina Work Incentive Planning & Assistance (WIPA)

If you receive disability benefits from the Social Security Administration, and are interested in working or learning more about how working would affect your benefits, you can get help from a community organization known as a Work Incentive Planning and Assistance (WIPA) project.

U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) - Savannah Local Office

Enforces federal laws, including the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), that prohibit job discrimination. The Savannah District Office has jurisdiction over the State of South Carolina Counties of Allendale, Bamberg, Barnwell, Beaufort, Berkeley, Charleston, Colleton, Dorchester, Georgetown, Hampton, Jasper and Williamsburg.

University of South Carolina Small Business Development Center (SBDC)

SBDCs offer one-stop assistance to individuals and small businesses by providing a wide variety of information and guidance in central and easily accessible branch locations. SBDC services include, but are not limited to, assisting small businesses with financial, marketing, production, organization, engineering and technical problems.

WISE are community events held by local organizations for beneficiaries to learn more about available work incentives through accessible, informal, learning opportunities.
