Disability.gov Social Media User Agreement
Disability.gov Social Media User Agreement
The following User Agreement governs the use of all official Disability.gov accounts on social media platforms and Web sites, including but not limited to social networking pages, Web blogs and file sharing sites (i.e. Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn).
Please read the rules contained in this Agreement carefully. You can access this Agreement at any time on Disability.gov. Your use of any aspect of Disability.gov's social media accounts constitutes your agreement to comply with these rules. If you cannot agree with these rules, please do not participate.
This Agreement may be modified at any time. The date of the most recent revision will appear at the bottom right hand corner on this page. Your continued access of Disability.gov's social media accounts will constitute your acceptance of all changes or revisions to this Agreement.
Your failure to follow these rules may result in suspension or termination of your access to Disability.gov's social media accounts, without notice.
OFFICIAL SOURCES OF INFORMATION
Any social media accounts maintained by Disability.gov should not be regarded as a primary source for official government information or statements (not including links to content on official government Web sites). Disability.gov is managed by the Department of Labor's Office of Disability Employment Policy in collaboration with 21 federal partner agencies. Any official statements regarding Disability.gov will be released by ODEP in coordination with the Department of Labor's Office of Public Affairs (OPA).
COMMENTS ARE SUBJECT TO PUBLIC DISCLOSURE
All comments submitted or posted on Disability.gov's social media accounts are subject to public disclosure. Disability.gov reserves the right to restrict or remove any content that is deemed in violation of this policy or any applicable law.
COMMENTS BY OTHERS ARE NOT ENDORSED
Disability.gov does not necessarily endorse, support, sanction, encourage, verify or agree with the comments, opinions or statements posted on its social media accounts. Any information or material placed online, including advice and opinions, are the views and responsibility of those making the comments and do not necessarily represent the views of Disability.gov, the United States Government or its third party providers. By submitting a comment for posting, you agree that Disability.gov, the United States Government and its third party service providers are not responsible, and shall have no liability to you, with respect to any information or materials posted, including defamatory, offensive or illicit material, even material that violates this Agreement.
THE RIGHT TO REPORT THREATENING COMMENTS
Disability.gov reserves the right to report any comments that imply harm or imminent danger to yourself or others. By submitting a comment for posting, you accept that Disability.gov has the right to contact the appropriate authorities to report any suspicious activities, threats or behaviors.
EDITING AND DELETIONS
Disability.gov reserves the right, but undertakes no duty, to review, edit, move or delete any material submitted as a comment to information provided for display or posted on its social media accounts in its sole discretion, without notice. Comments submitted to these sites will be reviewed and posted on the Web site if they meet our comment policy. Although Disability.gov will monitor all Web sites on a regular basis for inappropriate or defamatory content, comments submitted after regular business hours, Monday through Friday, will be read and posted or deleted as early as possible.
Inappropriate comments will be deleted at the sole discretion of Disability.gov. While we encourage submissions from all viewpoints, we ask that all participants agree to the following Terms of Participation:
* To ensure constructive questions and comments, please post only questions or comments directly related and relevant to Disability.gov and the topics discussed.
* Refrain from posting questions that contain threats, obscenities and any other material that would violate the law if published, such as abusive, defamatory or sexually explicit material.
* Submissions containing the following will be deleted:
- Obscene or threatening language or discrimination (hate speech) based on race, sex, gender, religion, national origin, age or disability
- Commercial services or products
- Any personal or sensitive information (phone numbers, e-mail or postal addresses)
- Any endorsement of religious beliefs/practices or political parties, candidates or groups
- Any posts or links intended to influence (lobby) a Member of Congress or government official on legislation or appropriation
In the event that your original post contains an appropriate disability-related resource, Disability.gov may ask you to modify your posting by removing any portion that breaches the social media user agreement's terms of participation.
APPROPRIATE URL FORMAT
Disability.gov reserves the right to remove any URLs that pose or appear to pose a security threat to its site, the United States Government and other users, including, but not limited to, any URLs that have been shortened by third-party sites (i.e. bit.ly, tiny.cc). Since Disability.gov will actively check and monitor all links, users may only post content containing a full Web address. The only exception to this rule are sites that limit characters, such as Twitter. Users will be advised to click on third-party content at their own risk.
EXTERNAL LINKS (INCLUDING ADVERTISING LINKS)
The appearance of external hyperlinks does not constitute endorsement by Disability.gov or the United States Government of the linked Web sites, or the information, products or services contained therein. Disability.gov does not exercise editorial control over the information you may find at these locations. All links are provided consistent with the stated purpose of Disability.gov.
SECTION 508 COMPLIANCE
Third-party social media platforms and Web sites may not be accessible to all users, including those with disabilities. Therefore, any information posted by Disability.gov on any of its social media accounts will be available on the official Disability.gov Web site (www.disability.gov) in alternative formats.

Reference herein to any specific commercial products, process or service by trade name, trademark, manufacturer, or otherwise, does not necessarily constitute or imply endorsement, recommendation or favoring by the United States Government. The views and opinions of authors expressed herein do not necessarily state or reflect those of the United States Government, and shall not be used for advertising or product endorsement purposes.
