Department of Housing & Urban Development (HUD) Awards $32.7 Million to Help Elderly & People with Disabilities Live Independently

HUD has awarded $32.7 million in Service Coordinator grants to provide more than 19,200 low-income elderly and residents with disabilities in federally supported housing with assistance to locate and receive health care, meals and other support services so they can live independently in their own homes. Projects in 40 states will receive the Service Coordinator grants. A state-by-state list of the grant recipients can be downloaded in Word format.

Obama Administration Announces More Than $550 Million to Help Very Low Income Elderly & People with Disabilities Find Affordable Housing

Thousands of senior citizens and persons with disabilities will soon be able to find affordable housing, thanks to more than $550 million in housing assistance announced by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). The funding will provide interest-free capital advances to non-profit developers so they can produce accessible housing, offer rental assistance and provide supportive services for the elderly and persons with disabilities. The grants are provided through HUD's Section 202 and Section 811 Supporting Housing programs and will fund 169 projects in 46 states.
